Why choose Grenada for your second passport?
Grenada is one of the few countries to offer an investment citizenship program. The country therefore enjoys a solid reputation thanks to its due diligence audits. Applicant and family members qualified for this program do not need to reside or visit Grenada to enjoy the benefits of citizenship. Once issued, a Grenadian passport grants access to over 140 visa-free countries, including the UK, EU and China, along with other benefits inherent to Commonwealth passport holders.
How to get a Grenadian passport?
Grenada’s program currently offers two investment options, leaving the candidate free to choose the package that best suits them. The first option consists of a donation of (this amount may vary according to the composition of the family; 150,000 USD being for a single candidate) which will directly benefit the economy and will therefore finance projects in the fields of renewable energies, agriculture, infrastructure and tourism. The second option is to invest in a government approved real estate project (this amount is fixed regardless of family composition). Most, if not all, of the investments offered are in hotels, villas or resorts.
What other benefits does the investor derive from this program?
The most obvious benefit is of course the citizenship and the passport of Grenada. Regarding investment, it generates dividends for the investor, prudently estimated at between 2 and 5% per year and payable in USD. In addition, there is no annual maintenance fee or service charge for this program.
Can you sell your investment?
Yes. However, the law prescribes that the investor, under the Grenada citizenship by investment program, must maintain his investment for a minimum period of 5 years, after which he will be free to sell it. For investors outside Grenada’s citizenship program, there is no minimum holding period.
How long does the whole process take?
After the nomination is submitted it takes 2-3 months for the government of Grenada to approve it or not. It may happen that the processing time is longer (up to 8 months). This is usually due to the complexity of the case or a delay in producing the required documents.
When should I make the investment?
The investment is made in two stages. An initial deposit must be made when submitting the citizenship application. Once this application is approved, the applicant will have to pay the remainder of the investment. The Government of Grenada will issue the passports shortly.
What makes the Grenada passport unique?
Grenada is one of the very few countries to offer a passport that allows visa-free access to the UK (180 days), all EU countries (90 days), Russia and mainland China (30 days). Of all the Caribbean nations that offer citizenship-by-investment programs, Grenada is the only one to be a signatory to the USA E-2 Treaty. This means that successful applicants become, in effect, eligible for the USA E-2 visa which allows investors and their families to legally establish and reside in the United States.
